Find Reaper actions, FX, and projects in one place

Reaper has a separate window for actions, FX, projects, and track templates. The script searches all of them from one box, along with tracks, takes, regions, markers, and folder items. Results update as you type, and Enter runs the action, adds the FX, or opens the project.

Results as you type

Typing dopp lists doppler plug-ins, JSFX, an FX chain, and actions, grouped by type. Then the action filter goes on, and remove take markers narrows the list to the actions that match.

How it works

  1. Open nvk_SEARCH

    Run it from the Actions list, or give it a keyboard shortcut.

  2. Type

    Results update as you type. Start with a filter key and a space, like f delay, to search one type.

  3. Press Enter

    The selected action runs, the FX is added, or the project opens. Shift+Enter keeps the window open.

Features

  • One search box

    FX, FX chains, actions, projects, track templates, tracks, takes, regions, markers, and folder items all show up in the same results.

  • Drag FX onto tracks

    Drag FX from the results onto a track, a take, or an FX chain. Drop an instrument below the last track to get a new armed track.

  • Filter keys

    Type a key and a space to search one type: a for actions, f for FX, p for projects.

  • Your own folders

    Put actions, FX, chains, and templates together in folders. Alt-click a folder to pick a random item from it.

  • Persistent mode

    The script keeps running after you close it, so it reopens instantly with your last search instead of scanning again.

  • Copy actions for ReaScript

    Copy Command copies the selected action pre-formatted for ReaScript, ready to paste into a script.

Search syntax

Start with a filter key and a space to search one type of result. Two spaces with nothing typed clear the filter, and the filter button next to the search box opens the same list as a menu.

Is nvk_SEARCH free?

Yes. Leave the price at $0, or enter what you'd like to pay. Either way you get a license key that unlocks the script.

How do I install and unlock it?

Follow the install guide, then run nvk_SEARCH in Reaper and enter your license key when it asks. The key is in your Gumroad receipt.

Can I open it with a keyboard shortcut?

Yes. It's a Reaper action, so you can assign it a shortcut in the Actions list like any other. With persistent mode on in its preferences, it opens instantly.

Which versions of Reaper and which systems are supported?

Reaper 7 or later on macOS and Windows.

What do I need before installing?

Reaper, ReaPack, the SWS/S&M Extension, ReaImGui, and the js_ReaScript API. The scripts install through ReaPack; the install guide walks through every step.
